Casa Cottage - Bangalore Heritage Hotel

 

Ever imagined what Bangalore looked like in the 70’s and 80’s? The chirping of the birds, the clear blue sky, the quiet, the old houses and green spaces that once made the city famous for being the Garden City... Most things have changed considerably over the years, but we here at Casa Cottage have made time move a bit slower and have tried to preserve what once was. Grab a coffee and a book, and come take in the friendly and homely ambience around the cottage that travellers from around the world have enjoyed since we first opened up in 2001.

 

Now consisting of 18 rooms, our heritage bungalow which was originally built in 1915, offers a tranquil oasis escape right in the heart of the IT capital of India. The only family-run guest house of the sort in the city, and with over 35 years in the hospitality industry, we offer each guest a chance to live Bangalore a bit differently, far from the busy city life.

Each of our rooms is different, each one renovated to offer different options. Some offer a balcony overlooking the garden, others have a sit-out, some have a small kitchenette, or the standard rooms offer you simple but comfortable stay options.

 

One of the attractions of the cottage is the outdoor space we offer. The garden goes around the property and allows you to sit out under the avocado trees and listen to the birds chirp.

 

Since we are located a walking distance from the city centre, most of what’s to see in Bangalore is easily accessible. Tourist attractions like the bull temple, Botanical garden, Tipu Palace and the city market are all nearby. Some of the breweries and restaurants that make Bangalore famous are also within walking distance, with places like the Bierre Club, Toast & Tonic and MTR within 2 kilometres.

 

My parents, an Indo-French couple, happened to fall across this property in 2000, and fell in love with it. It had been untouched for two decades and with nature having taken up residence on site, it was 2 years of cleaning up and renovating before the cottage hosted its first guests. Along with the staff, we continue to manage the guest house with the same passion my parents showed their guests, not only here in the guest house, but for over 35 years in our Casa Piccola restaurants. The “Call it Home” motto has been the calling card for all of our hospitality businesses, coming from a desire to know each guest and make them feel comfortable while sharing our knowledge of our favourite local spots.
